Malki Kawa is the agent of Yoel Romero, who may be moving from middleweight to light heavyweight in the near future.
The agent wouldn’t mind seeing UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier defend the title against his client.
“So I was looking at his record and looking at some of the people he’s beat, and I don’t know what the fans will think about Yoel Romero and Daniel Cormier title fight since Daniel wants big fights and I think that would be the biggest fight to make,” Kawa said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “When I look at this, and I don’t know how UFC would feel but Yoel Romero has beaten on his record five champions. Three UFC and two Strikeforce champions. He’s a monster in the Octagon.”
Cormier last competed at UFC 226, where he defeated Stipe Miocic by first round knockout to win the UFC Heavyweight Title.
DC doesn’t seem to keen on defending the gold against Romero, whom Cormier believes is a middleweight division failure.
“Here’s the deal, I never wrestled Yoel Romero, but in wrestling he probably would have served me up,” Cormier said on UFC Tonight. “He’s one of the great wrestlers of all-time. But, you don’t fail a class and then get moved up a grade to the next one.”
It is unknown when Romero could make the potential UFC Light Heavyweight Division debut, as the Cuban fighter has spent his entire tenure in the promotion competing at middleweight.
