Mark Hunt Claims Alistair Overeem Cheated At UFC 209

Mark Hunt is going to be headlining UFC Fight Night 110 as he battles Derrick Lewis in a heavyweight division attraction.

Hunt lost to Alistair Overeem in his last fight at UFC 209 and stop me if you've heard this before -- Hunt is calling Overeem a cheater for using an IV prior to the fight.

“I just got caught with a knee in the head, that’s what happens. That happens in fighting and that’s what happens, you make a mistake and you lose,” Hunt said on The MMA Hour. “I still don’t understand why he was allowed an IV. ... If you’re going to set a rule, set a rule for everyone, not change it for your own liking, your own benefit.”

UFC 209 was held in the state of Nevada and the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) does allow IV use in special circumstances. If an IV is offered by a hospital, it's not against USADA rules.

Special circumstances or not, the man who came up on the losing end that night in Hunt feels it is all a crock in the end.

“I wasn’t told about that (special circumstances for IV use),” Hunt said. “They’re not going to say anything about that. I think it’s just a whole crock of sh*t. It’s all made-up rubbish. It’s rubbish, you know? Have rules for everyone, not changing them for anyone. I would’ve told him to toughen up. F*ck. Toughen up, mate. He didn’t look sick when he got to the fight. He looked like he was pretty hydrated there. I don’t believe he was sick at all. He made sh*t up, and they said, ‘oh, here, have an IV. Give you a bit more help.’ Load of sh*t. I think I might say that next time, ‘I’m sick, I’m sick.’ Rubbish.”

UFC Fight Night 110 takes place on Saturday, June 10 from the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand with Mark Hunt and Derrick Lewis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
