Martin Nguyen is currently the One Championship Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, but he would like to add another belt to his collection this March.
Nguyen is slated to fight bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes for the gold this March at a yet to be named One Championship event.
Nguyen (10-1-0) first won the One Championships Featherweight Title back in August after knocking out Marat Gafurov at One Championship: Quest For Greatness. Nguyen would then become the lightweight champion when the fighter knocked out Eduard Folayang at One Championship: Legends Of The World. Nguyen also enters the fight on a six bout winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in over two years.
Fernandes (21-3-0) is making the eighth defense of his championship and the fighter hasn’t been defeated in over seven years. Fernandes first won the gold at One FC 9 in May of 2013, defeating Koetsu Okazaki by unanimous decision. Fernandes last suffered a defeat at K-1 Dynamite! Power Of Courage 2010, which is when he fell to Hiroyuki Takaya by decision.
More history is going to be made at that March event as well when Tiffany Teo faces Xiong Jing Nan to become the promotion’s first women’s strawweight champion.
