Matt Brown is arguably one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, regardless of weight classes, but there is something that troubles him deeply.
Brown is no stranger to concussions, the although the first one he had been officially diagnosed with did not happen until 2015, something Brown talked about with the folks at MMA Junkie Radio.
“I had to sit in my room for 10 days with no lights, no loud noises, no TV, no reading…like, literally stare at the wall and do nothing for 10 days, like jail” said Brown.
Brown’s next diagnosed concussion came just a few months ago at UFC 201, where he suffered a TKO loss to Jake Ellenberger.
“It’s the first time from a head shot that I’ve been dropped in my entire life, and I’ve sparred with heavyweights and big guys…I hope that I can speak near-full sentences when I’m done fighting” said Brown.
Although the fighter has admittedly been dealing with concussion issues and is looking to take better care of himself, he still has goals, one of which being a fight at UFC 205.
“I would love New York (at UFC 205), but I’m really fat right now…there’s still a lot of hunger in my heart, I’m still pressing toward the ultimate goal. I still, to this day, remember my motivation. I still remember what it’s like to go to a UFC and have that dream in my head” said the welterweight star.
Brown was also in attendance at this past Saturday’s UFC 203 event, where he had an inspiring run in with the sister of Mickey Gall.
“She had a tear in her eye, saying how I inspired her,” Brown said. “That put a tear in my eye, too.”
