Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was supposed to headline UFC Fight Night Japan against Ovince St. Preux.
However, a short time before the event, the Brazilian was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury that occurred during training.
Rua has already had both knees operated on multiple times before and the fighter just had another operation done on his injured left knee.
The former light heavyweight champion provided fans with an update through Instagram:
There is currently no timeframe as to when Rua is expected by in the Octagon, but fans shouldn’t expect to see him competed until sometime in mid-2018 at the earliest.
When he does make his Octagon return, it may come against Ovince St. Preux, who has already expressed an interest in fighting Shogun upon his return.
