One of the most anticipated bouts of the summer has been nixed from the UFC schedule.
According to ESPN Deportes, former UFC Featherweignt Champion Max Holloway has been pulled from his scheduled July 17 main event against Yair Rodriguez due to an undisclosed injury.
No official word from Holloway or the UFC for a potential replacement for Holloway, though fellow Featherweight contenders Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze have already thrown their hat in the ring to replace the former champion.
Rodriguez (13-2) was slated for his first walk to the octagon since an October 2019 clash against Jeremy Stephens as Holloway (22-6) was looking to leap back into a potential trilogy bout against division champion Alexander Volkanovski with a win against Rodriguez.
The fight was set to headline the UFC's July 17 fight night card which was tentatively scheduled to take place at the UFC's Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
