Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold recently stated that the UFC is working on a third bout between him and another former UFC Middleweight Champion in Michael Bisping.
Bisping is now claiming that the promotion has not offered him the bout with Rockhold, while the former champion also wants Rockhold to stick to modeling.
“I can categorically on the record state that I have not been offered a fight with (Rockhold) on July 7,” Bisping said to MMA Fighting. “He shouldn’t be so keen to get knocked out again anyway. Stick to modeling. Judging by his last three fights, MMA certainly doesn’t appear his thing anymore.”
The modeling comment made by Bisping is possibly in connection to Rockhold recently being named the new face of Ralph Lauren cologne.
Rockhold even offered to hold the bout at light heavyweight, which is a division that Bisping hasn’t competed at since a loss to former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans at UFC 78 in November of 2007.
These two competitors have met twice before in the Octagon, with Rockhold winning by submission at UFC Fight Night 55 and Bisping winning by knockout at UFC 199.
