Michael Chandler is preparing to defend the Bellator MMA Lightweight Title again Ben Henderson at Bellator 165.
Chandler is looking to stop history from happening and prevent Henderson from becoming a lightweight champion in Bellator MMA after being one in the UFC, but Chandler has a strategy in mind and that strategy has to do with the fact that Henderson may be “afraid to pull the trigger.”
“Quite frankly, it’s happening at the right time for me and the wrong time for him,” said Chandler to MMA Junkie. “To me, Benson’s looking a little bit weathered these days. His striking is pedestrian. He’s not a go-getter anymore. He used to be in big-time exciting fights, put hands on people,” Chandler said. “He just looks timid; he looks like he’s afraid to pull the trigger, and I’m the kind of guy that’s got my foot on the gas at all times in a fight. I’m excited to go out there and finish him.”
Henderson has only been finished twice in his career, once by TKO to Rafael Dos Anjos and once by submission to Anthony Pettis.
Bellator 165 takes place on Saturday, November 19 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Michael Chandler and Ben Henderson headlining.
