The main event for the final Bellator MMA event of 2017 has been set and it is a bantamweight division encounter as UFC veteran Michael McDonald faces Peter Ligier.
McDonald (17-4-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and this is going to be the UFC veterans first fight since getting a requested release from the promotion. McDonald had previously challenged for the UFC Interim Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Renan Barao at UFC On Fuel TV 7. McDonald is going to be competing for the first time in well over a year, with his last bout being a loss to John Lineker at UFC Fight Night 91.
Ligier (8-1-1) is also making his Bellator MMA debut in the fight and does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Ligier has only suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Mike Wootten at BAMMA 17 in December of 2014. Ligier is also a veteran of the European Beatdown promotion, where he defeated the duo of Georges Bardawil and Alexander Sasha Pirev.
Bellator 191 takes place on Friday, December 15 from the Metro Radio Arena in Tyne & Wear, England with Michael McDonald and Peter Ligier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on Spike TV.
