Michelle Waterson Says Germaine De Randamie Is A Dirty Fighter

MMA

Michelle Waterson is preparing for a co-main event bout with Rose Namajunas this Saturday Night at UFC On Fox 24.

Waterson is also a teammate of former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, who lost a controversial decision to Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208.

The strawweight star feels that De Randamie is a dirty fighter, especially with what happened at UFC 208, most notably the series of illegal strikes De Randamie through after two separate rounds concluded.

“If you’re going to be a dirty fighter, cool, that’s you’re style, whatever,” Waterson said to MMA Fighting. “But don’t come out and try to touch gloves with me at the beginning of every round and then hit me after the bell. Pick your poison. Don’t hit me and then be ‘oh sorry, my bad, we’re friends.’ No. That’s my thing about it.”

Holm and Waterson have been training together at Camp Jackson-Winklejohn for many years now.

One of the main reasons that Waterson is coming to the defense of her teammate is due to the sheer amount of respect she has for her.

“I can say nothing but great things about Holly,” Waterson. “She is someone to look up to. She, no matter what is going on in her life, if she’s passionate about something, she’s going to do it right. Whatever happened in this last fight, she came back to the gym that Monday to train. That’s just the type of champion that I like to look up to.”

UFC On Fox 24 takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event.
