A featherweight division affair has been added to the upcoming UFC 225 card as Mike Santiago is going to be in action against Dan Ige.
Santiago (20-11-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping bouts to the duo of Zabit Magomedsharipov and Mads Burnell. Santiago also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 7, defeating Mark Cherico by first round knockout. Santiago suffered a total of nine defeats outside of the UFC, with three of them coming to a trio of UFC veterans in Josh Shockley, Philipe Nover and Frankie Perez.
Ige (8-2-0) is also winless thus far in his UFC tenure, dropping a bout to Julio Arce by unanimous decision earlier this year at UFC 220. Ige competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 3, defeating Luis Gomez by third round submission. Ige also competed once in the Titan FC promotion before coming to the UFC, defeating Ronildo Augusto Braga by unanimous decision at Titan FC 44.
UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
