Nadia Kassem Wants Paige VanZant Next

Nadia Kassem made her UFC debut this past weekend at UFC Fight Night Sydney, earning a decision victory over Alex Chambers.

When Kassem makes her next Octagon appearance, the opponent that the fighter would like to face is Paige VanZant.

“I would love to fight Paige VanZant at 125 (pounds),” Kassem said to MMA Junkie. “She beat Alex previously, I just beat her tonight, and I feel like that would make the most sense.”

VanZant last competed at UFC On Fox 22 and she was choked out by Michelle Waterson on that night.

Kassem had some issues making weight for her bout against Chambers, but admits that she tried as hard as possible to get to 116 pounds.

“I tried my best,” Kassem said. “I stopped sweating in the sauna. I was in there all night, cutting water weight for a whole day. Everyone feels like crap in the sauna. Sweatsuit on, the boys are sweating, and I’m not. That scares me.”

Due to that tough weight cut for the bout against Chambers at UFC Fight Night Sydney, the undefeated Kassem wants her next bout to be a flyweight. That is also the same division PVZ plans on competing at when she returns to the Octagon.
