Former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and his squadron attacked a bus filled with UFC stars a couple of days before UFC 223, allegedly attempting to get physical with UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Nate Diaz has fought McGregor twice before in the promotion, defeating him at UFC 196 and suffering a loss at UFC 202.
The Stockton native recently took to Instagram to mock McGregor and pals, saying he and his team started the whole crazy brawls situation in the sport:
Diaz referenced the Strikeforce: Nashville brawl that took place eight years ago, which started when Jason Miller hopped the cage after middleweight champion Jake Shields defeated Dan Henderson in the main event. Miller demanded a bout for the gold against Shields, which would lead to a shouting match before the Diaz Brothers and others got physical, which lead to a massive brawl inside of the cage.
Security and even members of Henderson’s own team had to break everything up, which would lead to the end of MMA on broadcast TV until the UFC signed a deal with Fox many years later. The fight between Shields and Miller would never come to fruition and Strikeforce would eventually be purchased by the UFC.
