Nicco Montano vs. Julia Avila, and Ricky Simon vs. Brian Kelleher have been scrapped from upcoming UFC events due to positive COVID-19 tests.
Montano (4-3) tested positive for the novel coronavirus, multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting. Her fight against Avila, which was scheduled for the October 3 Fight Night card, has been scrapped.
Simon (16-3) announced on Friday that he has been pulled from his September 5 fight vs. Brian Kelleher (21-11) after one of Simon's cornermen tested positive for COVID-19. Simon made the announcement on Twitter:
I just got the call that they are pulling me from the card due to one of my cornermen testing positive for Covid. I put in so much work for this fight and I was really looking forward to putting on a show for you guys. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. pic.twitter.com/bHg43523T2
