However, a post-fight celebration that saw Munhoz celebrate his win by staying on top of the Octagon wall may get the fighter in trouble.
That’s because the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has temporarily suspended the fighter for that post-fight celebration, which was first reported by John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett says all fighters were made aware of the fact that they weren’t allowed to celebrate in the fashion that Munhoz did.
“Our inspectors were specifically advised by me to make sure the fighters knew they were not authorized to jump out of the cage,” Bennett said to MMA Fighting.
No word has been given yet on what kind of punishment Munhoz could face, whether it be a fine, a suspension or a combination of both.
The NSAC rule for such a celebration states that “an unarmed combatant shall not leave the ring or, if the contest or exhibition is being held in a fenced area, the fenced area, during any period of rest that follows a period of unarmed combat.”
There has been no comment from Munhoz or the UFC at this time.
