Oscar De La Hoya Has Been Secretly Training For McGregor Fight, Predicts Quick Finish

It has been nearly a decade since fans saw the legendary Oscar De La Hoya compete and that was a loss to Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, the boxing great recently admitted that he has been training in secret for a potential boxing match against UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

“You know I’m competitive,” De La Hoya said to The Mac Life. “You know I still have it in me. I’ve been secretly training. Secretly training. I’m faster than ever, and stronger than ever. I know I could take out Conor McGregor in two rounds. I’ll come back for that fight. Two rounds. Just one more. I’m calling him out. Two rounds. That’s all I need. That’s all I’m going to say.”

De La Hoya was extreme critical of McGregor's professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather, which even drew the ire of UFC President Dana White.

While De La Hoya wants to get McGregor in the boxing ring, the retired fighter admits the Irishman would destroy him in an MMA fight.

“He’s a big Irishman,” De La Hoya said. “He’s the king. He’s the king. Hey, let’s get it straight: in the cage, he would freakin’ destroy me. No, (we have to fight) in the ring.”

McGregor has yet to respond to the challenge from De La Hoya or announce any future plans as a boxer or MMA fighter.
