A women’s flyweight division encounter has been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night St. Louis card as Paige VanZant is in action against Jessica-Rose Clark.
MMA Fighting first reported the fight.
VanZant (7-3-0) has won just one of her last three fights under the UFC banner, with that win coming over Bec Rawlings at UFC On Fox 21. VanZant is also returning after a year-plus layoff, as her last bout was a loss to Michelle Waterson at UFC On Fox 22 in December of 2016. VanZant’s only loss outside of UFC competition came to fellow UFC fighter Tecia Torres by decision at Invicta FC 4.
Clark (8-4-0-1NC) is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Bec Rawlings by decision at UFC Fight Night Sydney. Clark has seen her last eight professional MMA fights go the distance and it has been over three years since the fighter got a finish in a bout. Clark is also a former Roshambo MMA Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defeating Rhiannon Thompson to win the gold in 2014.
UFC Fight Night St. Louis takes place on Sunday, January 14 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
