UFC lightweight contender Renato Moicano has verbally agreed to fill in for Rafael Fiziev and face former UFC lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, in the co-main event of UFC 272 on Saturday night.
MMA Fighting's Damon Martin was the first to report the news of the matchup via a tweet, with journalist Ariel Helwani being the first to report that both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight. The bout is expected to be fought at a catchweight of 160-pounds and will be five rounds. Dos Anjos is 2-2 in his last four Octagon appearances and is coming off of a split-decision victory over Paul Felder at UFC Vegas 14 back in November 2020. Moicano meanwhile is 3-1 since moving up to lightweight back in March 2020 and will try to build on a second-round submission victory over Alexander Hernandez at UFC 271.
