Rampage Predicts No Takedowns For Chael Sonnen At Bellator 192

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson faces Chael Sonnen in a Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix opening round bout later this month at Bellator 192.

Sonnen is one of the best wrestlers in MMA, but Rampage predicts that his opponent won’t score any takedowns in their bout.

“I will be surprised if Chael can take me down in this fight,” Rampage said to MMA Fighting. “I’ve been concentrating a lot on wrestling and a lot on all different types of takedown defenses. So my takedowns is getting better as a result of it, you know?”

Rampage competes at heavyweight for just the second time in Bellator MMA, as his divisional debut came against King Mo at Bellator 175. Despite feeling confident in his takedown defense, one thing that has annoyed Rampage is always fighting wrestlers.

“I’m sick of fighting all these damn wrestlers,” Rampage said. “The promoters, they must love it, they must love watching me fight those stale-ass wrestling matches, they keep throwing wrestlers at me then why wouldn’t they throw strikers at me.”

Bellator 192 takes place on Saturday, January 20 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
