Joao Zeferino has suffered an injury and has been pulled from PFL 10 and the PFL Welterweight Playoffs, replacing him in the playoffs according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN is Abubakar Nurmagomedov.
An injured Zeferino took to Twitter to address the whole situation:
Unfortunately I wont be fighting this weekend in the @ProFightLeague playoffs due to injury.
— Joao Zeferino (@zeferinomma) October 15, 2018
Im upset because I was completely ready to win, but at the same time happy because I had 2 great wins in 6 weeks.
I want to thank PFL and all of my fans. I’ll be back even better pic.twitter.com/08nvxfF6hk
Zeferino went 2-0-0 during the PFL regular season, picking up victories over the duo of UFC veterans Yuri Villefort and Paul Bradley.
Nurmagomedov was supposed to fight Villefort in a playoff alternate bout, nobody has been announced to replace him in that bout. Nurmagomedov was also allegedly involved in the UFC 229 brawl alongside family member and UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Professional Fighters League 10 takes place on Saturday, October 20 from the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC with no main event made official at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the NBC Sports Network.
