Jessica Penne has suffered an injury and has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale according to ESPN (via Farah Hannoun), replacing her against Jodie Esquibel is Angela Hill.
Esquibel (6-4-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping bouts to the duo of Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Aguilar. Esquibel has seen her last six professional MMA fights go the distance and it has been over five years since the fighter got a finish. Esquibel has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and three of those defeats have come by way of decision.
Hill (8-6-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak and she hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year. Hill also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20, losing in the opening round of the reality show to Carla Esparza. Hill has competed fourteen times as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of her fights have gone the distance.
UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale takes place on Saturday, April 27 from the BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with Ronaldo Souza and Jack Hermansson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
