A heavyweight division attraction is currently in the works for UFC Fight Night Shanghai as Chase Sherman is going to be in action against Shamil Abdurakhimov.
MMA Today first reported the fight.
Sherman (11-3-0) enters the fight on the strength of a two bout winning streak, with those wins coming over the duo of Rashad Coulter and Damian Grabowski. Sherman also competed four times in Square Rings Promotion, with one of those bouts coming against UFC veteran Alex Nicholson. Sherman is also competing for the fourth time this year, which is the most active he has been since he debuted in 2014.
Abdurakhimov (17-4-0) has won just two of four fights under the UFC banner, defeating both Anthony Hamilton and Walt Harris. Abdurakhimov is coming off of his first main event appearance for the UFC, which was a loss to Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night 102. Prior to signing with the UFC in 2015, Abdurakhimov defeated UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at Abu Dhabi Fighting Championships 2.
UFC Fight Night Shanghai takes place on Saturday, November 25 from the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China with Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
