A lightweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 227 according to MMA Fighting as Ciaran Clarke is going to be in action against George Courtney.
Clarke (0-0-0) is not only going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this but, but a professional MMA debut as well. Clarke has an extensive amateur MMA career, picking up a total of ten wins before turning to professional MMA. Clarke does train out of SBG Ireland, which is the home to former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor.
Courtney (1-0-0) makes his professional MMA debut earlier this year at Bellator 217, defeating Ian Cleary by third round submission. Courtney also won two of three during his time as an amateur MMA fighter, with all of those bouts coming in the Akuma FC promotion. Courtney has competed four times as an amateur and professional MMA fighter, with three of those bouts ending by submission.
Bellator 227 takes place on Friday, September 27 from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland with Ben Henderson and Myles Jury headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on the Paramount Network.
