Report: Cody Garbrandt Tests Positive For COVID-19, UFC 255 Fight Still On

Cody Garbrandt has tested positive for COVID-19 but his headlining fight at UFC 255 is still on.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is scheduled to defend the gold against former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in the main event of UFC 255. Garbrandt is still battling Figueiredo this November but he must first battle the coronavirus, which the fighter reportedly tested positive for according to AG Fight.

The report from AG Fight says that Garbrandt tested positive earlier this week after experience some minor symptoms like headaches and has already started quarantining. The fighter is expected to remain in quarantine for at least two weeks and he’ll be tested again before resuming training.

Figueiredo previously tested positive for the coronavirus this past May, but recovered and would go onto defeat Joseph Benavidez in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs. Benavidez II to capture the flyweight strap.

UFC 255 takes place on Saturday, November 21 from a location to be announced with Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
