Report: Cynthia Calvillo Faces Cortney Casey At UFC Fight Night Phoenix

A women’s strawweight division encounter has been added to UFC Fight Night Phoenix according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as #10 Cortney Casey faces #13 Cynthia Calvillo.

This bout was originally scheduled for UFC 233, but was moved to this card after the event was scratched

Casey (8-6-0) has won just one of her last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Angela Hill at UFC Fight Night Lincoln. Casey has seen her last five fights go the distance and it has been over two years since the fighter got a finish. Casey has suffered six defeats as a professional MMA fighter and five of them have come by way of decision.

Calvillo (7-1-0) has won four of five fights throughout her UFC tenure, with three of those victories coming by way of submission. Calvillo won three bouts prior to signing with the UFC in 2017, with two of those wins coming over fellow UFC fighters Montana De La Rosa and Gillian Robertson. Calvillo also won seven bouts as an amateur MMA fighter, with one victory coming over fellow UFC fighter Aspen Ladd.

UFC Fight Night Phoenix takes place on Sunday, February 17 from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
