Report: Darrick Minner Steps In At UFC Fight Night Norfolk

Grant Dawson needed a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Norfolk after the withdrawal of Chas Skelly and now he has one because Darrick Minner has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Mike Heck of My MMA News first reported the news and the bout is still expected to be a part of the main card.

Dawson (14-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated the duo of Julian Erosa and Michael Trizano. Dawson also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 6, defeating Adrian Diaz by second round submission. Dawson has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and ten of them came by way of submission.

Minner (24-10-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Minner competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 7, suffering a first round submission loss to Herbert Burns. Minner has competed a total of thirty four times as a professional MMA fighter and three of those bouts went the distance. 

UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place on Saturday, February 29 from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia with Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
