A welterweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 225 according to MMA Junkie as David Rickels is going to be in action against Yaroslav Amosov.
Rickels (21-5-0-2NC) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Guilherme Vasconcelos and AJ Matthews. Rickels hasn’t suffered a defeat in over a year, with that last loss coming to Michael Page at Bellator 200. Rickels has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter, but he hasn’t been defeated by way of submission.
Amosov (21-0-0) has already picked up two wins under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating the duo of Gerald Harris and Erick Silva. Amosov is competing for the third time in Bellator MMA and Rickels represents the first non-UFC veteran that he has faced in the promotion. Amosov has competed a total of twenty one times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those encounters went the distance.
Bellator 225 takes place on Saturday, August 24 from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
