A rematch for the UFC Flyweight Title has been added to UFC 227 (first reported Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting) as Demetrious Johnson will defend the gold against #2 Henry Cejudo.
Johnson (27-2-1) is going to be making the twelfth defense of his championship, last defending it against Ray Borg at UFC 216. Johnson and Cejudo first met back at UFC 197, with Johnson picking up a first round TKO victory on that night. Johnson hasn’t suffered a loss in almost seven years, with that last defeat coming to former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz at UFC On Versus 6.
Cejudo (12-2-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Wilson Reis and Sergio Pettis. Cejudo also served as a coach on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24, but lost to opposing coach Joseph Benavidez at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale. Cejudo has suffered a total of two defeats as a professional MMA fighter, but none of those losses came by way of submission.
UFC 227 takes place on Saturday, August 4 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
