A featherweight division rematch is set as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night Atlantic City according to ESPN as #3 Frankie Edgar is in action against #4 Cub Swanson.
If the report is true, it would mean that Cub Swanson has signed a new deal with the promotion, as his bout against Brian Ortega at UFC Fight Night Fresno was the last fight of his old UFC contract.
Edgar (22-6-1) is coming off of the first knockout loss of his professional MMA career, which came to Brian Ortega at UFC 222. Edgar is also a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn by decision to win the strap at UFC 112. Edgar also won the initial meeting between he and Swanson at UFC Fight Night 57 and that win came by way of fifth round submission.
Swanson (25-8-0) has won four of six since the first bout with Edgar, with those wins coming over Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Dooho Choi and Artem Lobov. Swanson is also competing in a non-main event fight for the first time in well over a year, but the fighter is 2-2-0 in UFC main event bouts. Swanson is also competing in a rematch for the first time in his UFC tenure, which has last for fourteen fights and over six years.
UFC Fight Night Atlantic City takes place on Saturday, April 21 from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey with Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
