Report: Glover Teixeira & Jimi Manuwa Headline UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo

The main event is set for the upcoming UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo card according to MMA Junkie as #5 Jimi Manuwa faces #8 Glover Teixeira.

Manuwa (17-4-0) is going to be entering the contest in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping fights to the duo of Volkan Oezdemir and Jan Blachowicz. Manuwa hasn’t won a bout in well over a year, with that last victory coming over Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 107. Manuwa has previously headlined two cards in the UFC, winning at the aforementioned UFC Fight Night 107 card and losing at UFC Fight Night 37.

Teixeira (27-7-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last six UFC appearances, with his last bout being a loss to Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night Hamburg. Teixeira has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to then champion Jon Jones at UFC 172. Teixeira has suffered a total of seven defeats as a professional MMA fighter, but he has yet to be finished by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
