Report: Ibirapueroa Gymnasium Being Used For Coronavirus Patients, UFC 250 Not Happening There

Brazil has been one of the countries that have been hit hard by the coronavirus, with 14,275 people being diagnosed with the virus and another 706 people dying according to WorldOMeters.

Next month’s UFC 250 card was supposed to go down from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but that definitely won’t be happening now because a report from Combate states that the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium is now being used to treat coronavirus patients.

The UFC had reportedly already told both former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua to get out of Brazil so they can still fight at UFC 250. The event will most likely be held now at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in California, which is where all UFC cards will reportedly be held for the next two months.

There has been no official statement from the UFC at this time regarding the status of UFC 250.

UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from a location to be announced with Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
