The UFC Featherweight Division has one less fighter in it as Jason Knight has reportedly been cut by the promotion.
BJPenn.com first reported the news, which came after Knight did an interview with the website, saying:
“They cut me after that last loss. About two weeks after the last loss they sent me an e-mail and went ahead and relinquished my contract. Sean Shelby said just win a couple of fights and we will be back in there. We are looking at Bellator, ONE [Championship] or something like that. Here in the next month or so once I know my gym is doing good I will get back to the grind and try to get Bellator, ONE Championship and get a new contract.”
Knight went 4-5-0 in the UFC (20-6-0 overall) and ends his run with the promotion while in the midst of a four fight losing streak. Knight hasn’t picked up a win in nearly two years, with his last victory coming over Chas Skelly at UFC 211. Knight found lots of success before coming to the UFC in December of 2015, which includes capturing the Atlas Fights Featherweight Title by defeating Michael Roberts by unanimous decision at Atlas Fights 23.
