A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 234 according to the Courier Mail as Jim Crute is in action against Ryan Spann.
Crute (9-0-0) has already competed once under the UFC banner, defeating Paul Craig by third round submission at UFC Fight Night Adelaide. Crute earned a contract with the UFC after competing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 14, defeating Chris Birchler by first round TKO. Crute is also a former Hex Fight Series Light Heavyweight Champion, but relinquished the gold after signing with the UFC earlier this year.
Spann (15-5-0) is also undefeated thus far in UFC competition, having defeated Luis Henrique by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo. Spann has competed twice on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series, defeating Emiliano Sordi on Episode 10 and losing to Karl Roberson on Episode 3. Spann has picked up fifteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and ten of them have come by way of submission.
UFC 234 takes place on Saturday, February 9 from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia with Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
