A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC 247 as #7 Jimmie Rivera is in action against #14 Marlon Vera.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, although its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Rivera (22-4-0) has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over John Dodson at UFC 228. Rivera hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year, as the UFC 228 event took place in September of 2018. Rivera has picked up twenty two wins as a professional MMA fighter and sixteen of them came by way of decision.
Vera (15-5-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a five fight winning streak, having defeated Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti, Frankie Saenz, Nohelin Hernandez and Andre Ewell. Vera hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost two years, with that last loss coming to Douglas Silva De Andrade at UFC Fight Night Belem. Vera has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them have come by way of decision.
UFC 247 takes place on Saturday, February 8 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas with Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
