Report: Jimmie Rivera Injured, Off UFC 247

Another fighter has been pulled from next months UFC 247 card as Jimmie Rivera has suffered an injury, which has lead to his bout against Marlon Vera being canned.

MMA Junkie first reported the news, but it is unknown at this time as to the exact nature of Rivera’s injury or how long the fight is going to be out of action for. Vera is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for him to face.

Vera (15-5-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a five fight winning streak, having defeated Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti, Frankie Saenz, Nohelin Hernandez and Andre Ewell. Vera hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost two years, with that last loss coming to Douglas Silva De Andrade at UFC Fight Night Belem. Vera has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them have come by way of decision.

UFC 247 takes place on Saturday, February 8 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas with Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
