A bantamweight division attraction has been added to the upcoming UFC 228 card according to MMA Fighting as #5 Jimmie Rivera faces #7 John Dodson.
Rivera (21-2-0) is looking to rebound from his first loss in almost a decade, with that defeat coming to Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night Utica. Rivera had won five bouts under the UFC banner before the defeat, with a notable win coming over the retired Urijah Faber at UFC 203. Rivera has earned a total of 21 wins as a professional MMA fighter, with 15 of those victories coming by way of decision.
Dodson (20-9-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last seven fights, with the fighter picking up a victory over Pedro Munhoz in the last fight at UFC 222. Dodson has previously challenged twice before for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing to current champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC On Fox 6 and UFC 191. Dodson has seen his last four fights go the distance and it has been two-plus years since the fighter got a finish.
UFC 228 takes place on Saturday, September 8 from a location to be announced with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
