A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC 237 according to Farah Hannoun as #1 Jose Aldo is going to be in action against #4 Alexander Volkanovski.
Aldo (28-4-0) will enter the contest on the strength of a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano. Aldo was the first ever UFC Featherweight Champion, bring the title over from the WEC after the promotion was bought out by the UFC. Aldo has seen ten of his professional MMA fights go the distance and the former champion has won all of those encounters.
Volkanovski (19-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, with his last win coming over Chad Mendes at UFC 232. Volkanovski has averaged three fights a year since joining the UFC in 2017, but UFC 237 would mark his first bout of 2019. Volkanovski has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against Corey Nelson at Australian Fighting Championship 5 in May of 2013.
UFC 237 takes place on Saturday, May 11 from the Arena Da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
