Report: Kendall Grove Faces AJ Matthews At Bellator 193

A middleweight division attraction may be coming to the upcoming Bellator 193 card as Kendall Grove is going to be in action against AJ Matthews.

Grove (23-17-0-1NC) enters the fight on a two bout losing streak and the competitor hasn’t earned a victory in almost two years. Grove has previously challenged for the Bellator MMA Middleweight Title, losing to then champion Brandon Halsey at Bellator 137. Grove was also the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 3, defeating Ed Herman by decision in the finals of the reality show.

Matthews (8-7-0) will come into the fight riding a four bout losing streak and it has been over two years since the last time he won a fight. Matthews also competed once in Rizin, suffering a first round knockout loss to Anatoly Tokov in December of 2015. Matthews has spent the last six years in Bellator MMA, with the most notable win coming over Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears at Bellator 53.

Bellator 193 takes place on Friday, January 26 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Spike TV.
