Tonya Evinger is going to need a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo because MMA Junkie is reporting that Ketlen Vieira has suffered an injury and has been pulled from the event.
UFC officials are seeking a new opponent for Evinger to fight, as she is expected to remain on the card at this time. There is no word at this time as to how long Vieira is going to be out of action for, but more should be known as she heals up from the medical issues. Some reports have stated that Vieira is going to need surgery for the injury, but nothing has been made official at this time.
Evinger (19-6-0-1NC) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping a bout to UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cyborg at UFC 214. Evinger is also making her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Division debut in this bout, but the fighter has competed as a bantamweight outside of the promotion. Evinger is also a former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Irene Aldana at Invicta FC 13 to claim the gold.
UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
