A welterweight division attraction could be finding its way to the UFC 221 card as Luke Jumeau may be facing Daichi Abe.
News Hub Australia first reported the bout.
Jumeau (12-4-0) has won just one of two under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Dominique Steele at UFC Fight Night 110. Jumeau also won just one of three bouts against UFC fighters prior to signing with the promotion and that lone win came over Vik Grujic at Sledgehammer Promotions: Legend MMA 1. Jumeau has suffered four defeats as a professional MMA fighter, with two coming by submission and two by way of decision.
Abe (6-0-0) has competed just once thus far under the UFC banner, which was a unanimous decision win over Hyun Gyu Lim at UFC Fight Night Japan. Abe has spent the majority of his professional MMA career in the Pancrase promotion, winning four of four bouts there. Abe is fighting outside of Japan for just the second time in his professional MMA career, with the other time being a win over Bryson Kamaka at Capone’s Productions Mid-Pacific Championships in February 2017.
UFC 221 takes place on Saturday, February 10 from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia with Robert Whittaker and Luke Rockhold headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
