A main event has potentially been set for UFC Fight Night Belem and it takes place in the middleweight division as former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion #14 Lyoto Machida faces Eryk Anders.
MMA Today first reported the possible main event bout.
Machida (22-8-0) has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner and the fighter hasn’t earned a victory in over three years. Machida is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Rashad Evans by knockout at UFC 98 to win the gold. Machida has spent the last four-plus years competing in the middleweight division, earning a record of 3-4-0 in that weight class.
Anders (10-0-0) has already competed twice under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Rafael Natal and Markus Perez. Anders is also a former Legacy Fighting Alliance Middleweight Champion, defeating Brendan Allen to win the belt at LFA 14 earlier this year. Anders does enter the contender undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and that streak has lasted almost three years.
UFC Fight Night Belem takes place on Saturday, February 3 from the Manguerinho Gymnasium in Belem, Brazil with Lyoto Machida and Eryk Anders headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
