A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 250 as #15 Mauricio Rua again faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Rua (26-11-1) has won four of his last six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the aforementioned Nogueira (second meeting), Corey Anderson, Gian Villante and Tyson Pedro. Rua is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Lyoto Machida at UFC 113 to claim the gold. Rua is back competing on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in almost four years, with his last appearance coming at UFC 198 in May of 2016.
Nogueira (23-9-0) has won two of his last five in the UFC, with those victories coming over Patrick Cummins and Sam Alvey. Nogueira also lost the first meeting against Rua, with that defeat coming at Pride FC Critical Countdown 2005 in June of 2005. Nogueira is also back in action for the first time in almost a year, with his last bout happening at UFC 237 in May of 2019.
UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
