Report: Nik Lentz Faces Gray Maynard At UFC 229

A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC 229 according to Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal as Nik Lentz is in action against Gray Maynard.

Lentz (28-9-2-1NC) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Will Brooks at UFC Fight Night Sydney. Lentz has competed at both lightweight and featherweight in the UFC, earning a combined 12-6-1-1NC record in the promotion. Lentz has suffered a total of nine losses as a professional MMA fighter and five of them have come by way of decision.

Maynard (13-6-1) is returning to action for the first time in well over a year, as his last bout took place at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale in July of 2017. Maynard has twice before challenged for the UFC Lightweight Title, fighting then champion Frankie Edgar to a draw at UFC 125 and then suffering a fourth round knockout loss to Edgar at UFC 136. Maynard is also competing on a pay-per-view card for the first time in over five years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC 160 in May of 2013.

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
