If you're one of the people who believe that boxing can't draw anymore, you may not want to continue reading this because your theory is sure to be debunked.
According to ESPN's Dan Rafael, May 6th's PPV headlined by Canelo Alvarez dominating 12-round victory over Julio Cesar Chavez is set to be a huge success after hitting "at least" a million buys.
No official numbers yet for #CaneloChavez PPV but I'm told it will be at least 1 million buys. A huge number for the fight. #boxing

There are no official numbers yet, but over a million buys for a boxing card in 2017 where many people seem to be skeptical about boxing can only be viewed as great news for the future of the sport.
After the fight, it was immediately announced that Alvarez's next fight will be against Middleweight star Gennady Golovkin in a bout that the boxing world has been wanting for quite some time. Now it's finally going to happen on September 16, with Triple G's unified Middleweight title likely on the line.
If Canelo vs. Chavez did over a million PPV buys, one has to wonder what the number will be for a fight that has the potential to go down as the biggest fight of the year after months and months of failed negotiations.
From Anthony Joshua's impressive victory over Wladimir Klitschko back in April to the aforementioned superfight between Triple G and Canelo, fans of boxing are sure to continue to enjoy what has been a stellar 2017 for the sport.
