A UFC Women’s Strawweight Title fight will headline UFC 237 according to MMA Fighting, with the bout first being reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN, as Rose Namajunas will defend the championship against #1 Jessica Andrade.
Namajunas (8-3-0) is making the second defense of her championship, last defending it against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of UFC 223. Namajunas won the title back at UFC 217, defeating the aforementioned Jedrzejczyk in their first encounter by first round TKO. Namajunas has picked up eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of them have come by way of submission.
Andrade (19-6-0) enters the contest on the strength of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Claudia Gadelha, Tecia Torres and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Andrade has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Joanna Jedzrejczyk at UFC 211. Andrade has competed as both a strawweight and bantamweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 10-4-0 in the organization.
