The trilogy will come to a conclusion on Saturday, August 15 as UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic and former two division UFC champion #1 Daniel Cormier will meet for the third time in the main event of UFC 252.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the main event encounter.
Miocic (19-3-0) is starting his second reign with the championship, which began when Miocic defeated Cormier in their second meeting at UFC 241. Miocic successfully defended the UFC Heavyweight Title three times in his first reign, which began with a victory over Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198. Miocic has picked up nineteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and fifteen of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Cormier (22-2-0-1NC) won the first meeting with Miocic to win the heavyweight title, with that victory coming by first round knockout at UFC 226. Cormier is also a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Anthony Johnson to win the gold at UFC 187. Cormier has suffered just two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with one coming to Miocic and the other coming to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from a location to be announced with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
