We are just over a month away from UFC 251, which is scheduled for July 11 and there has been no main event announced for the card at this time.
However, a report from Ariel Helwani of ESPN is stating that three title bouts could top the bill for UFC 251. Those three titles bouts would be Alexander Volkanovski defending the featherweight title against Max Holloway, Kamaru Usman defending the welterweight title against Gilbert Burns and Jose Aldo facing Petr Yan for the vacant bantamweight title.
Volkanovski (21-1-0) would be making the first defense of his championship, which the fighter won by defeating Max Holloway in their first meeting at UFC 245. Holloway (21-5-0) has won just one of his last three in the UFC, with that win coming over Frankie Edgar at UFC 240.
Usman (16-1-0) would be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Colby Covington at UFC 245. Burns (19-3-0) comes into the contest riding a six fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost three years.
Aldo (28-6-0) is winless when competing at bantamweight, dropping a bout to Marlon Moraes at UFC 245. Yan (14-1-0) has won six of six thus far in the UFC, with three wins coming by KO/TKO and three coming by decision.
UFC 251 takes place on Saturday, July 11 from a location to be announced with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
