According to initial reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer that have since been verified by MMA Junkie, Urijah Faber's comeback now has a date and opponent set.
'The California Kid' hasn't fought since December 2016, bidding farewell with a victory at home against Brad Pickett. Prior to that though, Faber (34-10) had lost two straight but will now look to build a new streak of success at home, returning on July 13th to fight Ricky Simon. At 40 years of age, Faber's decision will likely spark some debate but according to the man himself, it's simply what he wants to do right now.
Simon (15-1) is unbeaten in the UFC, going 3-0 since arriving in April 2018. After submitting Merab Dvalishvili in his octagon debut, Faber has since outpointed Montel Jackson and Rani Yahya as well. Even still, he's not currently ranked in the UFC's Bantamweight standings.
