A women’s bantamweight division affair is the latest addition to a UFC event scheduled for March 9 according to MMA Junkie as #7 Marion Reneau faces #10 Yana Kunitskaya.
This bout was originally scheduled for UFC 233, but was moved to this card after the event was scratched.
Reneau (9-4-1) has won two of her last three fights under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Talita Bernardo and Sara McMann. Reneau has suffered three losses under the UFC banner, with two of them coming to fighters who have held or challenged for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title. Reneau has suffered four defeats as a professional MMA fighter and all of those losses have come by way of decision.
Kunitakaya (11-4-0-1NC) is looking to build on the momentum of her first UFC victory, which came over Lina Lansberg at UFC 229. Kunitskaya has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title, losing to current champion Cyborg by first round TKO at UFC 222. Kunitskaya is a former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Raquel Pa’aluhi by unanimous decision at Invicta FC 25 to claim the gold.
The yet to be announced UFC event is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 from a location to be announced with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
