A monumental missed call by referee Chris Tognoni very likely cost Mike Rodriguez his fight against Ed Herman at UFC Vegas 10.
Rodriguez floored Herman with a hard knee to the body against the fence in round two. Tognoni incorrectly identified the strike as a low blow and paused the action. Rodriguez audibly complained but the referee persisted. Herman proceeded to take almost the entire five minutes to recover. Rodriguez went right back to work, dropping Herman again before round two concluded.
After a tough start to round three, Herman managed to lock on a kimura from half-guard bottom, sweep over Rodriguez and seemingly do some serious damage to M-Rod's shoulder en route to a submission win. Herman should incredible perseverance in scoring the comeback; however, it is very likely that Rodriguez should have been awarded a second-round TKO.
